HM King Hamad Receives Annual Report from Shura and Representatives Councils

HM King praised the significant accomplishments achieved during the second legislative session, recognizing the legislative authority’s commitment to advancing civilizational development and comprehensive growth plans. He underscored the councils' critical roles in legislative and supervisory capacities, highlighting the effective development of laws and regulations that align with the aspirations of citizens.

His Majesty affirmed that the democratic journey in Bahrain has thrived due to the collective efforts of all stakeholders.His Majesty also acknowledged the exemplary cooperation between the executive and legislative branches, which has been instrumental in tackling current challenges and laying out future plans aimed at fostering progress and prosperity for Bahrain and its people.

Additionally, the King commended the contributions of Bahraini citizens in shaping the nation’s renaissance, noting their exceptional dedication and welcoming nature, which has garnered Bahrainis respect among the global community.

HM King reaffirmed Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity for all communities, emphasizing the nation’s resolve to disseminate its message of peace and unity among Arab, Islamic, and global populations, grounded in the belief that peace is essential for the advancement of societies.

In response, the Chairmen of the Shura and the House of Representatives expressed their deep appreciation for His Majesty’s unwavering support and patronage, which has led to numerous democratic and parliamentary achievements that contribute to the Kingdom's development across various sectors.

The annual report issued by the Shura Council includes an introduction and remarks from Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, followed by statistical data on the council’s achievements during the session. It also discusses the events surrounding the opening of the session, including the royal address delivered by His Majesty, the proceedings of the first council session, and the election of the council’s deputy chairmen.

Meanwhile, the report from the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives reflects a coordinated approach to parliamentary work, highlighting the legislative and supervisory functions, along with the council's community engagement and media communication efforts from October 8, 2023, to May 8, 2024.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Chairman of the House of Representatives, emphasized key indicators of parliamentary performance and provided an overview of the council's composition based on electoral districts.
The report also detailed procedural actions taken during the opening of the second regular session, reiterating His Majesty's commitment to reform and modernization in Bahrain’s national progress. It highlighted the collaborative achievements of the legislative institution and the executive authority, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Additionally, the report summarized the House of Representatives' response to the royal address, presented findings from parliamentary investigative committees, and highlighted 25 official statements issued in line with significant national occasions.
The active role of parliamentary diplomacy was also noted, with the parliamentary delegation participating in 52 regional and international forums. Furthermore, 14 overseas parliamentary participations were highlighted, alongside the hosting of several foreign delegations and the establishment of five joint parliamentary friendship committees aimed at fostering international cooperation.

The report underscores the House of Representatives' dedication to community engagement through various activities and programs, reinforcing its commitment to serving the people of Bahrain.
