Celebrating a Legacy: Farouk Mohammed Al-Khatib Retires After 71 Years in Oil and Gas

In a momentous event celebrating a remarkable career, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, welcomed Mr. Farooq Mohammed A lKhateeb, Oil Field Lands Advisor at Bapco Exploration and Production, following his retirement after an impressive 71 years in the oil and gas sector.

During the reception, Sheikh Nasser commended Al-Khatib for his significant contributions and dedication throughout his extensive career. “Farooq Mohammed has played a crucial role in advancing the industry, adapting to the evolving landscape of the oil and gas sector,” he remarked, acknowledging Al-Khatib’s commitment as a distinguished national talent who served diligently for seven decades.

HH Shaikh Nasser emphasized that honoring long-serving individuals aligns with the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and reflects the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to recognize and appreciate the efforts of national figures who have contributed to the development of Bahrain.

Mr. Al-Khatib’s career began in 1953 when he joined the Bahrain Oil Company, known then as "Banoco," before transitioning to Bapco and eventually the Bahrain Petroleum Development Company. His career trajectory has been marked by dedication and numerous successes, culminating in his retirement from Bapco Exploration and Production.

Throughout his tenure, Al-Khatib occupied various technical roles, including drilling, field services, gas, asset management, and lands. Notably, he began in a fuel tank position and made history as the first Bahraini appointed as a shift supervisor in the Bahrain Field Department.

His exemplary service earned him multiple awards and honors, solidifying his legacy as a devoted professional and a source of inspiration for his colleagues and future generations in the industry.
