Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) CEO Sara Ahmed Buhiji underscored the importance of fostering sustainable tourism and tackling the challenges posed by tourism seasonality.
Buhiji was speaking as she participated in a panel discussion titled “Collaborative Strategies for a Balanced Season” at the 29th edition of Routes World.
During the session, she highlighted the necessity of comprehending these challenges and formulating appropriate strategies, particularly during periods that may witness reduced tourist traffic.
Emphasising proactive measures, the the BTEA official also called for initiatives such as diversifying tourism offerings and organising engaging events during off-peak seasons.
She referenced the success of the Bahrain Summer Toys Festival, which was held in collaboration with the private sector, in attracting citizens, residents and visitors, especially from the GCC countries. Buhiji said: “It is vital to collaborate with partners to promote year-round events and destinations through innovative marketing campaigns.
This includes exclusive offers and appealing packages during quieter periods, which encourages travel and stimulates the tourism sector.” Leading model The CEO affirmed that regional collaboration enhances unified strategies for attracting tourists, with GCC countries serving as a leading model in this area, given the diverse attractions and unique characteristics each nation possesses.
Regarding domestic tourism, she highlighted its crucial role in bolstering the local economy and raising awareness of national products and destinations, thus supporting businesses and empowering citizens and residents to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Kingdom.
In closing, the CEO of BTEA reiterated the significance of collaborative strategies in building a comprehensive tourism ecosystem that enables visitors to discover the key attractions of nations.
