A 40-year-old man is facing possible prison time after allegedly stealing a power drill and assaulting a store employee who attempted to intervene. The Public Prosecution has charged the suspect with theft by coercion and assault. A hearing is set for October 14 in the Lower Criminal Court to address the case.

The incident occurred at an electrical goods store, where the suspect reportedly browsed the aisles before seizing a power drill and attempting to exit without paying. According to the store's Asian employee, when he confronted the suspect, the situation escalated. The suspect allegedly shouted at the employee and struck him in the head and neck during the confrontation.

The assault resulted in visible injuries, including swelling on the employee's head, a cut lip, and scratches on his neck. The victim recounted, “I was just doing my job. He took the drill right off the shelf and started to leave. I asked him to pay, but he began yelling and then hit me. He pushed me, and I fell back. I was scared. I just wanted to get the drill back.”
