The Southern Governorate Municipal Council is set to initiate an ambitious project aimed at planting at least one tree per household across the governorate.
This initiative is part of a broader set of proposals designed to enhance the quality of life for residents by improving environmental conditions, community facilities, and recreational spaces.
In a bid to expand green spaces and beautify neighbourhoods, the council plans to submit these proposals to the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture shortly.
Additionally, the council has unanimously approved a proposal to request the allocation of a plot of land owned by the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments for the construction of a community events hall near the Hisham Al Rayes Mosque in the third constituency.
This decision comes in response to the increasing population density in the Al-Buhair area and the urgent need for such a facility.
The council has also shown a strong commitment to addressing community needs by approving a proposal to allocate land from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture for the construction of a mosque in Block 913 of the sixth constituency.
This mosque will cater to local residents, especially the elderly, who currently lack access to a nearby place of worship.
In a further demonstration of their dedication to enhancing recreational opportunities, the council has unanimously approved a proposal to request the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture to construct a recreational walkway in Block 913 in the Al Bukwarah area.
This project, made possible by the recent removal of oil pipelines, aims to provide residents with a valuable recreational space and promote physical activity in the community
