Bahraini Embassy in US Successfully Evacuates Citizens from Hurricane Milton's Path

The Bahraini Embassy in the United States, in collaboration with its emergency and disaster response team, successfully evacuated a number of Bahraini citizens residing in areas affected by Hurricane Milton, which recently struck the southern coast of Florida.

The embassy confirmed that all Bahraini citizens in the affected areas are safe and in good health, with no reported injuries. This swift action underscores the embassy's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Bahraini citizens abroad, providing essential support and services.

Hurricane Milton, accompanied by strong winds, heavy rain, and flash floods, hit Florida's coast just two weeks after another devastating hurricane, leaving the region particularly vulnerable. The embassy responded promptly to evacuation orders issued by local Florida authorities.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa immediately convened a meeting with the embassy's emergency and disaster response team, activating pre-planned measures.

The team swiftly identified Bahraini citizens in the hurricane's path, coordinating an evacuation plan. Contingency plans were also prepared in case of airport closures, including identifying safe temporary relocation areas.

The embassy and its consulates contacted Bahraini students and other citizens in Florida, facilitating the evacuation of those who wished to relocate to safer areas in neighboring states.

Moreover, a comprehensive awareness campaign was launched on social media, disseminating emergency contact numbers and urging citizens to contact the embassy to ensure their safety and access necessary evacuation services.

Furthermore, embassy officials contacted family members in Bahrain of those citizens who could not be reached directly, providing reassurance and addressing their concerns.

The back-to-back hurricanes, Milton following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, compounded the challenges faced by the region, making the recovery process even more arduous. The Bahraini Embassy's proactive and efficient response stands as a testament to its dedication to protecting its citizens during times of crisis.
