The Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted a special event titled "Half a Year To Go: OSAKA EXPO 2025" at the Gulf Convention Center today, celebrating Bahrain’s upcoming participation in the highly anticipated global event. The World Expo 2025, which will be held in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, promises to be a platform for innovation and collaboration under the theme "Designing Future Society for our Lives."

Bahrain’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025 will mark the kingdom’s fourth appearance at a World Expo, following its involvement in Expo Shanghai 2010, Expo Milan 2015, and Expo 2020 Dubai. This continued participation underscores Bahrain's commitment to global engagement and innovation.

The guest of the evening was HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate.

During the ceremony, Nasser Al Arayedh, President of the Bahrain Japan Business & Friendship Society (BJBFS), addressed the significance of the Expo for both countries and the participating businesses. He highlighted the importance of such global events in fostering economic growth, cultural exchange, and technological advancement.

Earlier this year, Bahrain unveiled its pavilion for the Osaka Expo. Designed by renowned Lebanese-French architect Lina Ghotmeh and her Paris-based studio Lina Ghotmeh – Architecture, the pavilion is located in the "Empowering Lives" area, facing the sea. Drawing inspiration from traditional Bahraini boats, the design reinterprets millennia-old boat-building techniques, reflecting Bahrain’s rich craftsmanship and manufacturing heritage. This concept is also a nod to Japanese wood artistry, symbolizing the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.

The World Expo 2025 will focus on three key sub-themes: "Saving Lives," "Empowering Lives," and "Connecting Lives." It is expected to attract over 28 million visitors and will feature contributions from around 150 countries. The Expo will serve as a platform for nations to exchange ideas and innovations aimed at improving the future of humanity. Each participating country will also have the chance to celebrate its culture through designated national days, showcasing its unique traditions and values to the global audience.

With the countdown to Osaka Expo 2025 officially underway, Bahrain is poised to make a lasting impact with its visionary pavilion and contributions to the global conversation on "Designing Future Society for our Lives."
