HM King Hamad and HRH Crown Prince Salman Inaugurate 3rd Session of Bahrain’s 6th Legislative Term

Shaping Bahraini national identity for a new era was the focus of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s address to parliament yesterday, as he opened the new legislative session and emphasised the balance between openness and security.

The event unfolded at the Isa Cultural Centre and drew the attendance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

As HM the King arrived, he was received warmly by the Speaker of the Representatives Council, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, and the Chairman of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh. Following the national anthem, a recitation from the Holy Quran set a solemn tone for the proceedings.

In his address, HM King Hamad stated: “With God’s blessing, we begin the third session of the National Assembly in its sixth term, marking a new phase in parliamentary life.

Your esteemed council strives to uphold constitutional traditions and enhance the legislative process in line with our national interests.” National interests Reflecting on Bahrain’s progress over the past 25 years, he stressed the importance of a stable legal framework: “We aim to protect our national interests within a structure of institutions and law.

This focus is evident in our ongoing development and the unity of our society.” His Majesty acknowledged the government’s efforts, led by HRH Prince Salman, praising the importance of effective administrative practices: “We recognise the vital contributions of our government team in providing quality public services.”

He urged a renewed focus on the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and called for a forward-looking vision for 2050, ensuring that Bahrain remains a modern state rooted in Islamic values.

To further enhance national identity while balancing openness and security, HM the King advocated for a comprehensive study assessing readiness.

This call for shaping demonstrates the ongoing evolution of Bahraini society and its role in the world. He also expressed satisfaction with initiatives aimed at improving food security and promoting modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to benefit all citizens.

In his speech, Speaker Al Musallam thanked His Majesty for initiating the legislative session, noting the importance of this event amid Bahrain’s celebration of the silver jubilee of his reign.

Challenges He remarked: “The legislative authority will work diligently with the executive branch to tackle challenges through constructive dialogue, prioritising national interests.” Al Musallam reiterated the focus on economic recovery and the need for legislative support in areas such as food security and responsible management of natural resources.

He assured that the National Assembly is ready to engage with regional and international parliamentary bodies to promote cooperation and support national initiatives.
