The Parliament’s third session has been highlighted by First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Abdulnabi Salman, as a pivotal period for the legislative term.
Salman emphasized the session’s significance, particularly focusing on the upcoming budget discussions.
Salman stressed the importance of timely submission of the budget by the government, allowing for thorough review considering the current financial, economic, and regional circumstances.
He highlighted the need for careful scrutiny of government projects and programs, ensuring alignment with the government’s work program.
Public expectation, he noted, centers on reducing the budget deficit and public debt, although he acknowledged the challenges posed by the current economic climate.
Despite the anticipated difficulties in significantly reducing the deficit immediately, Salman expressed optimism for progress.
He underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and the legislative branch on key budget items, particularly project spending, and expressed hope for increased benefits and impactful projects for citizens.
The upcoming session’s agenda is extensive, encompassing key national issues. Salman cited unemployment, public debt, housing projects, future economic directions, healthcare and education initiatives, empowerment programs, and labor market issues as priorities.
He pointed out that the recent meeting with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa provided strong motivation for the parliament to pursue proposals benefiting the nation and its citizens.
Addressing regional and international developments, Salman stressed the need to mitigate any potential negative impacts on Bahrain’s economic and developmental stability.
Collaboration He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the parliament, the government, and the leadership to implement key programs, particularly the crucial financial support program, which he expects to be finalized soon through joint efforts.
Salman expressed confidence in the coming period, highlighting the government and leadership’s history of supporting citizens, especially vulnerable groups.
