On the occasion of the 20th edition of the Day of Italian Contemporary Art, the Embassy of Italy in Manama and the Art Concept Gallery inaugurated the solo exhibition ‘The Soul’s Habitats’ by Tuscan sculptor and photographer Margherita Verdi.

The exhibition, which was conceived during the artist’s travels across Europe, received a resounding success, serving as a manifesto in the optics of inclusion, presenting the public with a play of light and shadow, movement and stillness, through photographs of religious sites of all denominations from the largest European cities to the smallest, most characteristic Italian villages.

Hosted by the Art Concept Gallery in Manama, the exhibition was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Andrea Catalano Contemporary Italian art Reflecting on the evolution of Italian art, from the traditional neoclassical works of Antonio Canova and Vittorio Alfieri to the futurism of Carrà and Soffici, Ambassador Catalano highlighted the importance of contemporary Italian art and its fundamental role in promoting Italy’s social, economic and cultural development worldwide.

“Among the over 100,000 monuments and museums in Italy, every two years, millions of artists and visitors hasten to “The Floating City’s” Venice Biennale, to experience the splendor of Italian contemporary art, which is sometimes complex but intriguing, offering multiple perspectives to its audience.”

Greater awareness “It is in this spirit that we celebrate the 20th edition of the Italian Day of Contemporary Art,” said the Ambassador, “to promote greater awareness of the importance of the Italian contemporary art and foster a heightened sensitivity towards any cultural, sensory or intellectual barriers, with the importance of inclusion and accessibility as the central themes of this edition.”

At the conclusion of the event, Art met Green through the Buthoor Al Bahrain initiative by gifting the guests of the exhibition with a tree to make our future greener.
