Look up! Bahrain’s skies will soon host the last ‘supermoon’ of 2024, bringing the moon closer than your average flight distance — just 357,000 kilometres away.

Astronomy researcher Mohammed Redha Al Asfour has revealed that this celestial spectacle will coincide with the full moon of Rabi’ al-Thani 1446 AH, occurring tomorrow and on Friday.

Tomorrow, the moon will rise at 5:04pm, just ahead of sunset, before it sets at 6:26am the following morning, after dawn breaks.

The supermoon will appear larger and brighter than usual, especially compared to its position at apogee, when it sits farthest from our planet.

Al Asfour noted that the October full moon is known as the “Hunter’s Moon,” a name steeped in history from ancient tribes in North America and Europe.
