In a notable court ruling, an employer was acquitted of charges filed against him by his domestic worker, who had lived in his home for eight years. The worker had alleged that he withheld her wages and restricted her communication with her family.
According to the court records, the case began when the domestic worker fled her employer’s residence and filed a complaint, claiming that he had detained her full wages during her employment from 2017 to 2024. She accused him of exploiting her situation and forcing her into labor without payment.
The prosecution alleged that the employer engaged in human trafficking by facilitating her transport from her home country to Bahrain through a manpower agency. The worker claimed she was coerced into serving him and his family.
However, during the investigation, the worker admitted to having asked the employer’s wife to hold her wages, as she previously worked for another family and wanted to avoid sending money home. She acknowledged that the employer’s family provided her with adequate food and clothing and indicated that her only grievance was regarding her wages.
After reviewing the evidence and the circumstances of the case, the court found the worker’s allegations to be unsubstantiated and filled with doubt. The evidence did not meet the criteria necessary for a conviction, leading to the employer's acquittal.
Consequently, the court ruled in favor of the employer, declaring him innocent of all charges brought against him by the domestic worker.
