Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, hosts the first round of National Race Day this Friday (Editor’s note: 18 October), featuring three exciting national championships.

The day’s events will be headlined by the all-new 2024/2025 Bahrain Touring Car Challenge (BTCC), while there will also be plenty of action in the 2024/2025 Bahrain Motorcycle Championship (BMC) and Time Attack.

The track temperatures are set to heat up this weekend at BIC as the stacked season schedule continues with top-class local competition.

National Race Day is being organised and run by BIC, in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Circuit Racing Commission, the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission, the Bahrain Autocross and Drift Commission, and the Motorsport Marshals Club.

Friday’s events will be held along BIC’s 2.55-kilometre Inner Track. Action is scheduled to get underway at 1.15pm and continue until 9.30pm, making for varying conditions for both competitors and fans with thrilling day-to-night racing. The podium ceremonies are scheduled for 9.45pm.

All are welcome to attend National Race Day. Tickets cost BD2 for adults and BD1 for children. They will get to witness some of the best Bahrain-based racers compete in the three highly competitive series.

The BTCC will be building on the success of its predecessor, the BIC 2,000cc Challenge with the new regulations allowing for more flexibility on the cars that are allowed to enter, making it easier for new participants to join the grid and reduce costs for drivers.

Competitors in this campaign held a test day at BIC last week as part of their final preparations for the start of their season-long programme. This Friday’s events in the BTCC will feature a practice session, to be followed by qualifying, setting the stage for two 15-lap races.

While the action on four wheels will be intense, there will also be some fiery battles on two wheels with the BMC. Riders will be going wheel-to-wheel in two different classes, including the 1,000cc and 600cc. The round will comprise a practice, qualifying, and a single 14-lap race.

Amongst the BMC competitors is a 13-rider field. Set to race in the 1,000cc class are Hassan Alawadhi, Bandar Bahlul, Abdelrahman Hasan, Nawaf Alshuaibi, Fahad Al Hashash, and Bradley Stewart.

In the 600cc class are Ali Adiby, Mohamed Al Sadiq, Saif Albuainain, Abdelrahman Ahmed, Nasser Al Khadra, Achraf Hamoud, and Mohammed Redha.

Meanwhile, Time Attack will feature competition in six different categories. Drivers will be aiming to clock their fastest lap time to get their best classification amongst the field at the end of the evening.
After a single practice session, each class will get out onto the tarmac for two heats during the day.

Seven rounds of National Race Day are scheduled to take place this 2024/2025 season, to be held all the way through to May.
