The Shura Council today confirmed the leadership of several of its key committees through unanimous acclamation during its regular session.

The results saw the continuation of several incumbents in their leadership roles and the appointment of new chairs for others.

Khalid Al Masqati will continue as Head of the Council's Financial Committee, and Dr Mohammed Ali will remain Head of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee. Dr Jameela Al Salman has been elected as the new Head of the Services Committee, replacing Dr Ibtisam Al Dalal.

Furthermore, Dr Mohammed Al Khuzaei will continue leading the Human Rights Committee, and finally, Redha Monfaradi will retain his position as Head of the Youth Affairs Committee.

The uncontested elections signify a continuation of established leadership within the Shura Council, ensuring stability as the Council embarks on its legislative agenda for the new term.

Commitment

Following the elections, the Shura Council’s office has reaffirmed in a statement its commitment to developing the legislative process, working in close coordination with the executive branch to achieve national goals.

"This commitment reflects the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who has emphasised the importance of strengthening legislative work and democratic practices to accelerate development,"

Moreover, the office expressed pride in His Majesty the King’s words of trust and appreciation for the legislative authority during the opening of the third session of the sixth legislative term. They pledged continued efforts to enact and develop legislation that embodies the values of unity and justice, and to maintain the momentum of comprehensive development.

Mr Al Saleh congratulated the newly elected heads of the Shura Council's committees, urging them to continue their efforts in discussing and reviewing legislation, and to submit legislative initiatives that enhance Bahrain’s democratic and legislative progress.

Meanwhile, the Shura Council’s office reviewed a list of draft laws and reports ready for discussion, as well as topics still under review by the council’s committees. The meeting also discussed the agenda for the council's third session, including the topics to be addressed.
