A Bahraini man is facing a three-year prison sentence after being convicted of arson for setting fire to his brother's luxury car. This incident arose from a long-standing dispute between the two siblings.

According to court documents, the defendant deliberately set fire to the vehicle while his brother was asleep. He entered the family garage, poured gasoline into the car, and ignited it using a lighter.
The fire quickly spread to parts of the garage, causing significant damage.

The victim discovered the fire and immediately contacted the Civil Defence, who arrived and extinguished the blaze. A report from the Civil Defence concluded that the fire was likely arson.

During the investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime, stating, "I acted out of anger and frustration after our constant arguments. I didn't think it would get out of hand."

He elaborated on the strained relationship he had with his brother, describing a cycle of disputes that often escalated over trivial matters.

"I felt trapped in a situation where every conversation turned into a fight," he explained. "It was as if we were stuck in this never-ending loop of anger and resentment." He further added, "I regret my actions now, but at that moment, I felt I had no other choice."

The prosecution's case relied on several pieces of evidence, including the victim's testimony, the defendant's confession, the Civil Defence report, and a forensic report from the Criminal Evidence Department's laboratory.

The defendant has appealed his three-year sentence, with a hearing scheduled for November 10th. The outcome of the appeal remains uncertain, as both sides await the court's decision on whether to uphold or overturn the conviction.
