The Cabinet approved the acquisition of several properties in Muharraq as part of the urban development plan, based on a proposal submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.

This came as the Cabinet followed up on the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, regarding the implementation of the Muharraq Development Plan.

The Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, yesterday chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

It reviewed the executive measures undertaken by ministers and government entities to implement the Royal Order issued by His Majesty the King.

The Royal Order aims to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities, including the renovation of Isa Al Kabeer Palace and the development of Muharraq in a manner that safeguards its rich heritage.

Royal address

The Cabinet commended Bahrain’s address, delivered by HRH Prince Salman, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, at the first EU-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium.

It highlighted the importance of the address, which underscored the shared GCC-EU visions of fostering security, stability and regional unity, reiterating the imperative to break the current escalatory cycle in the region, to avoid a wider regional conflict, as well as calling on the international community to join HM the King’s initiative to convene an international peace conference on the Middle East.

Efforts

The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which successfully facilitated the return of five detained Bahrainis from Yemen.

In commemoration of United Nations Day, the Cabinet extended its congratulations to the United Nations and reaffirmed the significance of upholding the principles and values of the UN.

Memorandums

The Cabinet discussed several memorandums, leading to key approvals.

In recognition of His Majesty the King’s Royal Decree pardoning 457 inmates in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of his accession, and following the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Cabinet instructed the Ministers of Interior and Labour to ensure all pardoned individuals eligible for unemployment benefits are registered as job-seeking beneficiaries.

The Cabinet approved a memorandum from the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, who also chairs the Education and Training Quality Authority, regarding the authority’s latest reports, which revealed continued improvement across the Kingdom’s educational and training institutions.

The Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs submitted a memorandum addressing the government’s responses to three proposals and three laws presented by the Council of Representatives.
