Bahraini space engineer Aysha Al Haram, Chief of the Satellite Design Department at the National Space Science Agency (NSSA), has made history by becoming the first Bahraini and Arab to win the prestigious "Young Space Leaders" award. The honor was announced during the 75th International Astronautical Congress held in Milan, Italy, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the space sector.

Expressing her joy and pride, Al Haram stated, “My feelings today are indescribable. Raising the flag of the Kingdom of Bahrain in front of over 11,000 participants at the congress is a great honor. Winning the Young Space Leaders award, the largest prize dedicated to youth in the space sector, is a pivotal moment in my life, filled with pride as I raised my country’s flag to be the first Arab flag to fly at this global event."

Al Haram extended her gratitude to the NSSA for their unwavering support throughout her journey, noting that the achievement is a testament to the talents of young Bahrainis. "This recognition is not just for me; it is an accomplishment for every Bahraini striving to elevate their country’s name in international arenas," she added. "This victory motivates me to continue working to achieve more accomplishments that raise the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the space sector."

The "Young Space Leaders" award, presented annually by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), honors young professionals who have demonstrated excellence in advancing space sciences. Recipients are recognized for their scientific research, academic contributions, leadership, and support for their communities through knowledge-sharing.

This recognition highlights Al Haram’s contributions not only to the space sector but also her role as a trailblazer for future generations of Bahraini youth.
