Roads in Samaheej and Al Dair are getting a BD325,000 facelift, with the Ministry of Works rolling out a four-month plan to overhaul water, electricity networks, and asphalt in the villages.
Fadhel Al Oud, a member of the Muharraq Municipal Council, shared that three blocks across the two villages will benefit from the planned upgrades. These include extensive civil works and a complete resurfacing of key roads.
“Block 234 in Samaheej is getting a much-needed upgrade, with water and electricity networks being strengthened, and roads 3403, 3407, and 3409 receiving new asphalt,” explained Al Oud.
The project here will see BD20,000 spent on civil works and a further BD80,000 on replacing the roads.
In Block 236, also in Samaheej, similar work is taking place along road 3613. The water and electricity networks are being reinforced at a cost of BD20,000, and the roads are being resurfaced for an additional BD80,000.
Al Dair’s Block 231 will see further improvements, focused on Street 27 and roads 3112, 3114, 2116, and 3117.
“We’ve already tackled the water and electricity networks in a previous phase,” said Al Oud, noting that BD40,000 has been allocated for civil works, with BD85,000 designated for road resurfacing.
Al Oud thanked the Minister of Works, Engineer Ebrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Undersecretary Shaikh Meshal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and Engineer Ebrahim Suwar, Acting Head of the Roads Maintenance Section, for their role in advancing the project.
