MP Jalal Kazem Rejects Reallocation of Youth-Empowerment Project to Investment Company

MP Jalal Kazem has expressed strong opposition to the decision to change the designation of a project allocated for youth in the Al Markh area to an investment company. The land was expected to house a project named Al Markh Youth Empowerment Centre, but it was leased to an investment company under the name of the Sports Cities and Facilities Company. 

Responding to this decision, MP Kazem stated that this move is unacceptable and contradicts higher directives aimed at investing in youth and sports sectors. He called for a reconsideration of the reallocation decision, urging authorities to restore the property’s previous designation as a nurturing centre for youth. 

He emphasised the importance of utilising young people's talents and creativity in sports, cultural, and social fields. He further suggested that it would be more beneficial for the company to lease a portion of the land designated for the Centre and invest in it, which would provide advantages for the village and its youth.

"This approach aligns perfectly with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to enhance investments in sports clubs and youth incubators, translating financial returns into a series of projects and activities that serve the youth," he said. 

It's worth noting that the government responded to the urgent request submitted by MP Kazem in the past parliamentary session by indicating that the property has been reallocated and designated in the name of the before-mentioned company, which was established for the purpose of investing in the management and operation of sports facilities and infrastructure serving both youth and sports sectors. 

The government added that the company plans to develop the mentioned property for sports facilities that meet its investment requirements, enabling local residents and youth to benefit from the sports services it will provide. 

The government also noted that it is currently studying the allocation of several plots of land for youth centres, including the Al Markh Youth Empowerment Centre, in accordance with financial appropriations.
