Artificial Intelligence became the common man’s invisible assistant some time ago. So, why not apply it to diplomacy?
MPs Khalid Buanaq and Ahmed Al Salloom are asking this question.
They argue that it’s high time for Bahrain to create a digital guardian capable of catching crises before they escalate into full-blown threats.
According to the MPs, Artificial Intelligence has become diplomacy’s next essential ally. Buanaq and Salloom emphasize the immense benefits of integrating AI-driven tools into diplomatic work.
The proposal suggests that these systems could enhance responses through quicker crisis tracking and analysis.
“This would give our diplomats an edge in a world that changes in the blink of an eye,” they said. A memorandum attached to the proposal highlights that traditional methods can slow down decision-making, leaving diplomats unable to react promptly.
In contrast, AI offers the ability to keep pace, providing timely insights without being hindered by delays.
The MPs envision AI as a backbone for early warnings and a bridge between diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
By gathering data and analyzing possible outcomes, diplomats could be better equipped to navigate unexpected developments, making informed decisions without being caught off guard.
The proposal frames this shift toward technology as a necessary evolution in diplomatic work.
Lawmakers believe that adopting AI will not only accelerate processes but also give diplomats a clearer perspective to manage the ebb and flow of international relations.
