His Excellency Nabil bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, Advisor to His Majesty the King for Media Affairs, has stressed that justice, freedom, and democracy are fundamental rights of all individuals. He emphasised that every person has the right to express their opinions and beliefs freely, without facing any form of discrimination. Al Hamar stressed that these rights should be applied equally to all people, regardless of nationality, gender, or race.

Speech

In a speech delivered at the “Asilah Cultural Festival” in Morocco, the Advisor asserted that while democratic values and human rights principles are highly esteemed, they are often exploited by powerful nations.

The festival, held under the theme “Values of Justice and Democratic Systems,” provided a platform for Al Hamar to express his concerns about the manipulation of these ideals. Al Hamar emphasised that despite the sophistication and ideals of democracy and human rights, they are frequently reduced to mere “slogans of right,” manipulated by the powerful for their own interests.

Systems and principles

He asked: “Is there absolute justice in our world? Do the systems that present themselves as democratic properly apply the principles included in their constitutions and systems, which they declare, emphasise and hold others accountable for? Or are they all systems and principles tailored to standards that are a tool of blackmail that some countries exploit to exert pressures with the aim of political domination over other countries and peoples?!”

Al Hamar pointed out that there are systems and theories that seek justice and humanity, but they failed, collapsed and fell, and systems that claimed democracy forcibly plunder the wealth of others, and leaders who ignite revolutions here and there under the slogan of “justice and humanity”, but they quickly turned into tyrants.

He said: “There is no doubt that the values of justice, the principles of freedom and human rights are all attractive titles that tempt different peoples around the world, but in order not to go beyond the reality that we and the world live, we must differentiate between what we want and what others want from these systems, principles and values.”

Basic values

He added: “We do not disagree that justice and democracy are among the basic values that form the basis of modern societies, and that these values contribute to achieving social balance and enhancing the rights of individuals and community participation.”

Al Hamar stressed that justice is a broad concept that includes social, economic and legal justice, and therefore, it is natural that human rights are supposed to be respected in just societies, and individuals enjoy their basic rights without discrimination, as well as equality before the law, where everyone is treated equally without bias or discrimination.
