The Housing Minister, Her Excellency Amna Al Rumaihi, has promised a full review of the Mazaya programme, aiming to ease the burden on over 13,000 beneficiaries who simply want a fair chance to own a home without extra strain.
In a private meeting, Al Rumaihi spoke with MPs about the programme, affirming that changes are being looked into so beneficiaries can keep up with payments while maintaining a decent standard of living. The minister assured that Mazaya’s terms are being reconsidered, with MPs’ concerns in mind.
Al Rumaihi also gave an update on the ‘Land and Loan’ scheme, noting steady interest from applicants and confirming that land and loan allocations should be finished by February 2025.
The meeting, led by First Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman, brought together Al Rumaihi and other ministry officials to focus on housing plans across the kingdom, with a particular eye on projects in the Northern Governorate’s Sixth District.
New developments
Al Rumaihi outlined several new developments, including the East Sitra Housing Project and additional housing in Madinat Salman. Reflecting on last week’s Parliament session, Salman stressed the need to improve housing services and cut waiting times.
The Mazaya programme remains a key focus, with Al Rumaihi agreeing that a new approach is needed to bring fairness to current beneficiaries and open doors for future applicants.
