Bahrain Chapter of ICAI Hosts Successful Start-Up Majlis Event
The Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) successfully hosted its "Start-Up Majlis" at the Crowne Plaza, bringing together entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and innovators to foster connections within Bahrain’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The event, expertly led by Master of Ceremonies CA Bharti Maheshwari, opened with an inspiring address from Chairperson CA Vivek Gupta, who outlined a vision for cultivating impactful ideas and relationships among participants.
Among the prominent attendees was Guest of Honor Mr. Mohammed Abdulali Al-Ali, Vice Chairman of Hope Ventures. He emphasized the critical role of strong Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) in facilitating business turnarounds and introduced the transformative concept known as the "power of zero," urging entrepreneurs to consider new paradigms in their business strategies.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Nawaf Mohamed AlKoheji, former CEO of Tenmou, shared his insights on the importance of building a robust start-up ecosystem. He highlighted the significance of strong founders and strategic growth areas, encouraging attendees to focus on foundational elements that drive success.
Technical sessions at the event featured industry leaders such as Anish Maheshwari from VSure Investment Affairs Limited, who provided valuable insights into investment strategies, and Gururajan Krishnamurthy from Zoho, who shared the company’s remarkable journey and growth within the MENA region.
A standout moment of the "Start-Up Majlis" was the inaugural start-up pitching competition. The two finalists, Rizq, a B2B platform focused on finance automation, and Unfade, an initiative empowering artisans, delivered compelling presentations. Ultimately, Unfade emerged victorious, celebrated for its innovative concept and potential for impact.
The event concluded with a thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by Narayan Ganapathy. Panelists Prashant Kumar Shrivastava and Nasra Al Abrawi addressed the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs in the region, encouraging a spirit of collaboration and innovation.
