His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, has commended the Cabinet's recent approval of the Tree Week initiative, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain. This annual initiative will take place in the third week of October and aims to raise environmental awareness across the Kingdom.

The Tree Week initiative is designed to promote environmentally friendly practices through tree planting and the expansion of green spaces, in alignment with Bahrain’s afforestation plan, which targets the planting of 3.6 million trees by 2035.

Dr. bin Daina highlighted that the initiative underscores Bahrain's commitment to fulfilling its environmental obligations and achieving zero neutrality by 2060. He noted that a series of events will be organized during Tree Week, engaging various sectors—public, private, and civil—to emphasize the critical role of afforestation in meeting the Kingdom's environmental goals.

"This initiative serves as an encouragement for all members of society to embrace their social responsibility toward the environment," Dr. bin Daina stated. He reaffirmed the Supreme Council for the Environment's dedication to enhancing initiatives and projects focused on preserving Bahrain's environmental wealth and biodiversity.

As the Kingdom gears up for Tree Week, the emphasis remains on fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship among its citizens, ensuring that future generations inherit a greener and healthier Bahrain.
