Bahrain’s national jiu-jitsu team earned five medals at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship for Masters, Adults, and Youth. Held in Heraklion, Greece, the competition attracted over 700 athletes from 58 countries, setting a high bar for intense performances.
Bahrain’s Medal Haul Begins
Bahrain’s veterans led the charge in the Masters division, with Bader Al-Dosari securing a silver medal in the under-77kg Masters 2 category. Al-Dosari’s path to the podium proved his resilience, as he overcame challenging opponents before claiming second place. Meanwhile, Najad Al-Qassabi earned Bahrain a bronze medal in the under-85kg Masters 2 category, standing out in his class and showing Bahrain’s strength among seasoned athletes.
Gold Medal Glory in the Adults’ No-Gi Division
In the Adults’ No-Gi division, Ali Munfaredi captured Bahrain’s only gold medal of the tournament in the under-77kg category. Munfaredi’s gold further elevated Bahrain’s standing on the international stage, making his win a moment of national pride. Abdullah Al-Shaikh added to the medal tally with a silver in the under-56kg No-Gi category, capping off a remarkable showing in the men’s categories.
A Strong Finish by Bahrain’s Female Contingent
In the women’s competition, Ala’a Saleh made her mark by earning bronze in the under-57kg No-Gi category. Saleh’s performance rounded out Bahrain’s impressive showing in Greece, where the team’s five-medal finish spoke volumes about the depth and diversity of Bahraini talent.
