Isa Town’s streets are filling up with parked trucks, bringing constant noise and smoke that wear on residents. Southern Municipal Council member Abdulla Darraj, has asked for clearer rules to keep lorries out of neighbourhoods, saying the vehicles are harming pavements and raising safety concerns. He’s urging local officials to strengthen parking rules and add warning signs to help bring back some peace to the area.

Darraj noted that many truck drivers keep breaking the rules, parking in neighbourhoods without restraint. ‘We need to clear residential streets of these vehicles to lessen the risks to residents’ safety, keep the area looking orderly, and shield the environment from pollution,’ he said.

Darraj also supports stricter enforcement of the law barring trucks and heavy gear from parking outside designated zones. Alongside this, he’s calling for more signs to warn drivers against using residential streets as a parking area.

Isa Town, he pointed out, is beginning to resemble a truck yard. ‘Lorries frequently park on pavements, leaving damage behind,’ he said. Many of these vehicles remain fully loaded while parked, adding to the strain on the area.

Residents have voiced their dismay over the unending noise from truck engines and thick smoke in the air. Darraj questioned the level of oversight from authorities, suggesting that ‘fines should be considered for drivers who ignore the rules,’ hoping this will encourage drivers to follow parking guidelines and ease the growing strain on neighbourhoods.
