Plans to install iron barriers around dumpsters in Wadi Al Buhair, aimed at reducing litter, maintaining street cleanliness, and enhancing safety, were unanimously approved on Wednesday by the Southern Municipal Council. The endorsement has now moved the plan forward to the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs for further action.
Proposed by Municipal Council Chairman Abdullah Abdul Latif, the plan targets dumpsters in the Wadi Al Buhair Housing Project, Block 937. The barriers are intended to secure dumpsters within designated areas, minimising scattered waste and giving the neighbourhood a more organised, well-maintained appearance.
During the meeting, Council Chairman Abdullah Abdul Latif noted that ‘the plan aligns with Bahrain’s efforts to improve public spaces, particularly in newer housing areas.’ He added, ‘The barriers would prevent dumpsters from rolling into the streets, contributing to a more orderly and tidier neighbourhood.’
This initiative also supports Bahrain’s waste management goals by encouraging residents to use designated dumpsters properly and assisting local teams in maintaining public areas. Inspectors are already ensuring that dumpsters remain in place.
With full council backing, the plan now awaits the Ministry’s decision on implementation, promising Wadi Al Buhair a cleaner, more organised environment.
