Bahrain's national volleyball team captured its third Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship title after a hard-fought 3-1 win over Gulf rivals Qatar in the final match.
Bahrain’s Strong Start Sets the Stage
In front of an eager crowd, Bahrain opened with energy and purpose, delivering a dominant first set performance with a decisive 25-17 scoreline. Mahmood Hassan and Nasser Annan led Bahrain's front line with powerful attacks, while Hussein Mansoor kept the momentum flowing with expert setting. Qatar struggled to find their rhythm as Bahrain’s solid blocks and well-coordinated defense kept them at bay, providing a clear statement of intent.
Tactical Precision Brings Bahrain Close to Victory
Bahrain doubled down in the second set, maintaining pressure on Qatar with a blend of forceful spikes and tactical finesse, claiming the set 25-18. Ali Ebrahim and Mohammed Yaqub made their presence known, landing key strikes that widened Bahrain’s lead. Their teamwork and relentless pace forced Qatar to stay on the defensive, placing Bahrain on the brink of a historic win.
Qatar Responds with Grit in the Third Set
Not to be dismissed easily, Qatar fought back in the third set, showing their resilience. Bahrain saw a few cracks in their previously seamless gameplay, which Qatar capitalized on, edging out a 25-21 set win. It was a needed lifeline for Qatar, and for a moment, the match’s outcome felt uncertain as they pulled the game into a fourth set.
Bahrain Seals the Championship in Style
Reenergized and refocused, Bahrain regrouped in the fourth set, rediscovering the intensity that defined their early play and winning 25-16. With Mohammed Yaqub and Sayed Hashem Isa putting on standout performances, Bahrain locked down their opponents, ultimately claiming the final set and the championship with a 3-1 win.
Top Honors
Hani Alawi received the award for Best Player in Position 3 at the Arab Championship, while Nasser Anaan claimed the award for Best Player in Position 4. Abbas Abdullah was honored as Best Libero, and Mohammad Yaqoob crowned it all by being named Best Overall Player in the tournament.
Coach Almeel’s Strategy Shines Through
Under the guidance of head coach Yaseen Almeel and assistant coach Mohammed Salman, Bahrain’s roster performed as a well-oiled machine throughout the tournament.
