In a new medical achievement for King Hamad American Mission Hospital, Dr. Sharif Khashaba, a consultant in vascular and endovascular surgery, treated an arterial rupture in the lower extremity. The rupture caused the patient severe bleeding and a decrease in blood supply to the right lower extremity.
Dr. Sherif Khashaba stated that the patient came to him after feeling severe pain in the right leg as a result of severe bleeding and decreased blood supply to the leg. After examination and imaging, it was found that there was a ruptured arterial aneurysm behind the knee.
The case was treated surgically by resecting the aneurysm and replacing it. This medical case is considered a very rare case, as only about 14 cases have been reported around the world in the last thirty years. The patient was discharged from the hospital after only a few days in good shape.
