The seventh edition of Bahrain International Exhibition for Agricultural and Animal Production, or Mara’ee 2024, will kick off on November 27 at the Bahrain International Endurance Village in Zallaq.
This was announced by officials at a press conference held yesterday at the Gulf Hotel. With the theme of promoting food security and strengthening the national economy, this year’s Mara’ee is set to feature an impressive lineup of participants, including local farm owners, Bahraini breeders, and rare Arabian horses.
Royal patronage
Held under the esteemed patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Mara’ee 2024 reflects Bahrain’s growing commitment to sustainable agriculture and food self-reliance.
By offering a platform that brings together local breeders, agricultural experts, and international exhibitors, the event underlines the critical role of agriculture in the kingdom’s economic diversification efforts. “Food security is a top priority for us,” noted one representative from the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry.
“Mara’ee is not only a display of our agricultural and livestock potential but also a symbol of Bahrain’s commitment to building a sustainable future.”
Rare Arabian horses
One of the most anticipated aspects of this year’s Mara’ee is the display of rare Arabian horses, a point of pride that celebrates the heritage and equestrian legacy of Bahrain.
These magnificent breeds, cultivated over generations by Bahraini breeders, will take center stage, drawing interest from horse enthusiasts and breeders alike. Alongside the horses, local farm owners will exhibit diverse livestock and produce, aiming to highlight Bahrain’s agricultural advancements and unique contributions to regional food systems.
Economy
Beyond the livestock and equestrian displays, Mara’ee 2024 aims to boost Bahrain’s economy by fostering local agribusiness opportunities. The event will include a marketplace for Bahraini agricultural products, providing a stage for farmers and entrepreneurs to network and promote their offerings. “Events like Mara’ee serve as a catalyst for our local economy,” said a spokesperson involved in the planning. “We are bringing together Bahrain’s agribusiness community and opening doors for local producers to expand their reach, which will in turn strengthen our economy.”
Experience
Mara’ee 2024 isn’t just for industry professionals; it’s also designed as an inclusive experience for the public. Visitors will have access to educational exhibits, interactive workshops, and demonstrations of sustainable farming practices.
Families are encouraged to attend, with the exhibition offering various hands-on activities to raise awareness about the importance of agriculture and animal husbandry for Bahrain’s future. As Bahrain sets its sights on a more sustainable and economically robust future, Mara’ee 2024 promises to be more than just an exhibition.
