CFA Society Bahrain announced the launch of the local round of the CFA Institute Research Challenge - an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and equity investment.
This initiative is part of the Society’s efforts to promote the values of the CFA Institute aimed at shaping a trustworthy, forward-thinking investment management industry that better serves society. Working in teams, students gain real-world experience as they assume the role of research analysts and are judged on their ability to value a public equity, write a research report, and present their recommendations.
Kick-off event
The kick-off event, organized by the program’s team of volunteers, was held at Bahrain Bourse, and was attended by the participating teams, faculty advisors, industry mentors, and the society’s board members, as well as a representative of the subject company.
In her opening remarks, Safeya AlAlawi – CFA Society Board Member, welcomed the attendees and noted that the Research Challenge is one of the Society’s flagship programs and has been running since 2011. She emphasized the role of such a competition in fostering analytical skills, ethical standards, and real-world experience.
Response
The participation response for this year has been remarkable, with six teams representing five esteemed universities, reflecting the growing interest in the competition.
The participating universities include the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Polytechnic, the American University of Bahrain, the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), and Ahlia University.
