In a celebration of Kerala’s vibrant culture and heritage, the online news portal 4PM Malayalam News brought the pulse of Kerala to Bahrain through an electrifying quiz competition, ‘Keralyeeyam 2024’. Held at the McIndeez Auditorium in Mahooz, the event transformed a mundane weekend into a cultural festivity, uniting Bahrain’s Malayali expatriate community under one roof. The event was more than just a test of wits - it was a tapestry woven with Kerala’s history, tradition, and identity. With 24 Kerala expatriate associations vying for the spotlight, the competition saw two contestants from each organization delve into rounds of intense intellectual combat.
Ultimate accolade
The contest culminated in a nail-biting finale, where six teams went head-to-head for the ultimate accolade. Emerging victorious were Sreeja Bobby and Josie Thomas, representing Malayali Mums Middle East. Their journey to the top was marked by sharp intellect and quick wit. Securing the second spot were Muhammad Ali and Anish Mathew of Bahrain Pratibha’s B Team, while Bahrain Pratibha’s A Team, represented by Gio George and Sajitha Sathish, claimed third place, cementing the organization’s stronghold in the competition.
Energetic moderation
The event was masterfully steered by quizmaster Bonney Joseph, whose energetic moderation was complemented by the dedicated efforts of P.P. Suresh, Ajay P. Nair, and Viswanathan Bhaskaran. Together, they ensured a seamless flow of events, making the evening both entertaining and enlightening. Every participant left the stage with a token of appreciation - certificates, cash prizes, and vouchers -as a tribute to their efforts. The prize distribution ceremony added a touch of prestige, with the honours bestowed by SPAC (Strategic Publicity and Advertising Company W.L.L) directors Latha Unnikrishnan and Boban Idiculla, CEO Adv. Abdul Jaleel Abdulla, and 4PM News Executive Editor Pradeep Puravankara.
