Focus on fight against human trafficking

The Embassy of India, Bahrain in collaboration with Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Bahrain and International Organization of Migration (IOM), Bahrain organized an awareness session for the Indian community members on the topic ‘Trafficking in Persons’ and various initiatives of the Government of Bahrain related to Labour Market at Embassy premises on 14th November, 2024.
The event, held as part of ‘Working Together’ programme was attended by around 100 members from Indian community including representatives of various Indian associations, private companies and manpower agencies. In his remarks, Ambassador H.E. Mr. Vinod K. Jacob urged the Indian Diaspora in Bahrain to follow and adhere to the laws, rules and regulations of the host Government. Ambassador Jacob also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Bahrain including the LMRA for protecting the interests of the Indian community.

Mr. Fahad AbdulAziz Al Binali, Director of Partnership and Outreach, LMRA; Mr. Saud Yateem, Director of Protection and Grievances Centre, LMRA; Ms. Aishath Ihma Shareef, Chief of Mission (designate), IOM Bahrain; as well as other officials of LMRA and IOM attended the event.
Presentations were delivered by officials from LMRA and IOM Bahrain which focused on the Human Trafficking, Registered Workers’ Programme, and the services provided by the Expat Protection Centre, along with guidance on how to utilize these services. The event also included a Q&A session.
