Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahraini startups are showcasing their creativity and innovation at the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) 2024. Representatives of participating startups emphasized their commitment to securing support from investors to take their ventures to the international stage.
Dr. Hamad Al Sayed, Founder and CEO of Twazn, introduced his groundbreaking investment platform that utilizes artificial intelligence to empower smallscale investors.
Investment opportunities
“This platform is about democratizing investment opportunities,” he said, noting its potential to expand access to diverse portfolios across traditional and Sharia-compliant assets. Among the standout participants was 16-year-old Zainab Adel Al Shuwaikh, the youngest at the forum.
A student at Saar Secondary Girls School, she presented her innovative, eco-friendly product - natural, organic capsules designed to enrich soil when buried. “I want to attract investors and learn from the experts here to bring this product to the global market,” she shared.
Role
Salman Al Marzooq, Founder and CEO of Travilege Solutions, highlighted his company’s role in transforming Bahrain’s travel industry. Travilege automates processes traditionally reliant on paperwork, serving 10% of Bahrain’s travel market with a fully local team. “Our aim is to connect with global investors and establish Travilege as an international brand,” he said. Feras Al Shuwaikh, Founder of Grams & Cals, focused on reshaping the perception of healthy eating.
Health and taste
His high-protein snacks with bold flavours aim to combine health and taste. “This is about making nutritious food exciting and accessible while appealing to modern palates,” he said. Adding to Bahrain’s digital innovation, Zainab Sayed Abdullah, Founder of Qetaat Platform (Sectors Platform), revealed plans to expand into the Saudi market.
The platform digitizes operations in sectors such as real estate and agriculture, streamlining business processes through advertising and product display tools.
Digital world
“Qetaat empowers businesses to adapt and thrive in a digital world,” she noted. With their ingenuity and ambition, Bahraini startups at WBAF 2024 exemplify the Kingdom’s ability to compete and innovate on a global stage. By bridging technology and creativity, these entrepreneurs are laying the groundwork for a brighter future for Bahrain’s economy and its global presence.
