Muharraq’s National Day festivities are being relocated to Shaikh Hamad Avenue, situated in the heart of the Muharraq Souq. The decision to move the main celebration from Al Sayh was announced by Municipal Council Chairman Abdulaziz Al Naar, who pointed to the avenue’s recent refurbishment as an inviting and practical setting.“Shaikh Hamad Avenue has been transformed, making it an excellent place to gather and celebrate this year’s National Day,” Al Naar said.
He confirmed that preparations are being organised in partnership with the executive body of the Muharraq Municipality and the Muharraq Governorate. While smaller events are planned for districts represented by council members, the principal celebration will now take place at the souq, emphasising the area’s renewed role as a focal point for community life.
Al Naar added that the shift in venue reflects an effort to breathe life into Muharraq’s historic and commercial centre, ensuring the celebrations take place in a setting that honours the area’s cultural importance.
