A man has been found guilty of filing a false police report and forgery after his appeal was rejected by the Cassation Court. The court upheld a six-month prison sentence handed down by lower courts. The defendant had originally been sentenced by the Lower Criminal Court. He subsequently appealed to the High Appeals Court, but this appeal was also dismissed.
Prison sentence
His final appeal to the Court of Cassation was rejected, confirming the six-month prison sentence. The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with falsely accusing another individual of forgery and using a forged document, with the intention of harming the judicial authority (the Public Prosecution).
The case centered on a false report filed by the defendant against a former employee. The defendant claimed the former employee had filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for losses incurred after leaving his employment.
Contract
To support his claim, the defendant presented a contract with a signature he alleged was forged. However, the alleged victim presented a genuine copy of the contract to the civil court. Forensic analysis revealed that the signature on the document presented by the defendant was, in fact, forged by the defendant himself.
