Bahrain Ready to Host Groundbreaking Para Taekwondo Events

Bahrain is preparing to make history with the First World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships and the Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open 2024, both set to take place this week. 

A Historic Milestone for Para Taekwondo

The World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships (November 26-27) is expected to be a milestone for Para Taekwondo, bringing together athletes from around the world to compete in a discipline that combines athleticism with artistry. This event is a step forward for Para Taekwondo and a defining moment for athletes with impairments.

Following the Poomsae Championships, the Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open 2024 (November 29) will provide another opportunity for top Para Taekwondo athletes to impress. 

Bahrain's Commitment to Sports Excellence

Ali Mohamed Al Majed, Secretary General of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, emphasized the importance of these championships in promoting an inclusive sports culture:

"These events represent not only an opportunity for Para athletes to compete at the highest level, but also a moment for Bahrain to demonstrate its commitment to developing sports for all, regardless of ability. We are proud to host such historic competitions and are confident that they will leave a lasting legacy for both the Kingdom and the international Para sports community."

A Global Partnership

The World Taekwondo Federation and Dr. Chungwon Choue, its President, have been instrumental in bringing these events to life in Bahrain. Dr. Choue expressed his excitement at the collaboration, stating:

"Bahrain’s passion for sports and inclusivity is truly inspiring. With the support of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, we are confident that these events will not only set a high bar for Para Taekwondo but also empower athletes with impairments to continue breaking barriers in the sport."
