Man missing after boat crash near Sitra following nightfall

Rescue teams are struggling against strong currents and fading light as they search for 26-year-old Isa Ali, who disappeared near Sitra following a boat collision on Wednesday evening.

The accident has left his father in hospital and his family holding out hope for his safe return. Isa had set out on a fishing trip with his father in the AlWarf area earlier that day. The pair departed at noon, but the exact circumstances of the collision remain unclear. The accident occurred after nightfall, adding to the difficulties faced by search crews.

Injuries

Isa’s father suffered injuries to his head and legs and a minor brain bleed. He is now in a stable condition in hospital, according to Isa’s uncle, Abdullah. Rescue efforts, led by the Coast Guard and supported by divers, civil patrols, and local fishermen, began immediately after the collision and have continued into yesterday. However, the strong tides in the area have slowed progress.

Operation

The Ministry of Interior confirmed yesterday that the Coast Guard is leading the operation. Isa Ali, a married man from Al Hidd, has yet to be found. His family, friends, and neighbours remain hopeful that he will soon be found and reunited with his loved ones.
