The Coast Guard has recovered the body of 26-year-old Isa Ali, who went missing following a boat collision near Sitra on Wednesday evening. The discovery comes after two days of intensive search and rescue operations hampered by strong currents and fading light.
Rescue teams struggled against challenging conditions as they searched for Mr Ali, who disappeared after the collision. The accident also left his father hospitalised with head and leg injuries, including a minor brain bleed. His father is now reported to be in stable condition.
Mr Ali had embarked on a fishing trip with his father in the Al Warf area on Wednesday afternoon, departing around noon. The exact circumstances of the collision, which occurred after nightfall, remain unclear.
The search operation, led by the Coast Guard, involved divers, civil patrols, and local fishermen. Despite the extensive efforts, strong tides significantly hindered progress. The Ministry of Interior confirmed the Coast Guard's lead role in the operation.
Mr Ali, a married man from Al Hidd, was reported missing following the incident. His family, friends, and neighbors had held out hope for his safe return. Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses to identify the culprits in the accident.
