The High Civil Court has ruled in favour of a financial consultant who was dismissed from his position at two companies after only three months of employment.

The consultant, represented by lawyer Zuhair Abdullatif, successfully argued that his dismissal was unlawful and secured a court order rejecting the companies’ claims and awarding him legal costs.

The two companies had initially filed a lawsuit against the consultant and his own company, seeking to void their contract, recover payments, and obtain BD6,100 in compensation for alleged breach of contract and poor performance. They claimed the consultant failed to fulfill his duties as the financial manager responsible for the accounting and procurement departments.

The companies alleged that after three months of employment, during which the consultant reportedly worked eighthour days, they terminated the contract due to his alleged failure to perform his duties. They subsequently filed suit, claiming significant financial losses as a result.

However, the consultant’s lawyer argued that his client had fulfilled his obligations, providing both written and verbal consultations.

The lawyer highlighted that the termination occurred without prior notice or warning, and that his client was dismissed abruptly, preventing him from retrieving documentation that would have proven his work.

He emphasised that the consultant worked from the companies’ offices using their laptop for at least eight hours daily, making it impossible to retain copies of relevant documents.
