The Muharraq Municipal Council’s Services and Utilities Committee has issued an urgent recommendation to address a serious land subsidence issue threatening homes in Arad. The subsidence, described as “dangerous” by council member Ahmed Al Muqahawi, poses a significant risk to the structural integrity of houses located along Road 4148 in Block 241.

This critical issue dominated the committee’s fifth meeting of the third session of the sixth term, chaired by Abdulqader Al Sayed. While the meeting addressed a range of service improvements, the urgency of the Arad land subsidence demanded immediate attention.

The committee’s recommendation goes beyond simply addressing the subsidence; it also emphasises the need for updates on the progress of two significant park projects: the Qalali Housing Park and the Qalali Oasis Park.

The committee also approved a request to acquire land for a new park in Block 111, Al Hidd, responding to community demand for increased green spaces. They addressed the insufficient sewage infrastructure in Al Hidd.
