Bahrain and UAE Strengthen Civil Aviation Cooperation with New MoU

In a significant move to enhance bilateral ties, the Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) of Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Bahraini-Emirati Joint Ministerial Committee meetings.
The agreement, aimed at advancing Gulf cooperation in air transport, was praised by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications. He emphasized the strong and enduring relationship between Bahrain and the UAE, particularly in the field of civil aviation. He also acknowledged the pivotal role of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in fostering this partnership.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah also expressed his gratitude for the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in driving forward collaborative efforts to achieve mutual goals.
The MoU is considered a key milestone in strengthening civil aviation collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange, and adopting global best practices in the industry. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah stressed the importance of the agreement in contributing to sustainable economic growth through the advancement of innovation, development, information technology, and training in the aviation sector. The MoU also highlights the commitment to supporting women in civil aviation.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of aligning international positions on civil aviation and lauded the UAE’s active participation in the Bahrain International Airshow, which further solidified the strong cooperation between the two nations.
The signing of the MoU follows the successful outcomes of the joint ministerial committee meetings, co-chaired by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. These meetings underscored the shared vision of both countries to advance cooperation in various fields, including air transport.
