Jewellery Arabia and Scent Arabia 2024 have spotlighted Bahrain’s thriving exhibitions sector, with Bahraini jewellers recording a remarkable 30% increase in participation compared to last year.
Sara Ahmed Buhiji, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and Chairperson of Exhibition World Bahrain, emphasised this milestone during a media tour of the event.
“This year, we’ve seen more Bahraini jewellers showcasing their unique designs, many of which feature the iconic Bahraini pearls that attract visitors from across the world,” said Buhiji. She praised the growing local presence as a testament to the Kingdom’s dynamic jewellery industry. “These jewellers are offering exquisite pieces with a distinctive Bahraini touch, which adds immense value to our exhibitions.”
The rise in Bahraini participation reflects broader growth for the event, which occupies all seven halls of Exhibition World Bahrain. “We’re proud to work with private sector partners like Informa Markets to bring prestigious events to Bahrain, solidifying our reputation as a global exhibitions hub,” Buhiji added.
Record Attendance and Global Appeal
Mohammed Ebrahim, General Manager of Informa Markets, highlighted the scale of this year’s event, with over 700 exhibitors from 27 countries and a significant 33% rise in visitor turnout on the opening day compared to last year. “By the end of the week, we’re anticipating over 45,000 visitors,” Ebrahim noted, further underscoring the event’s international appeal.
He attributed much of this success to Bahrain’s cutting-edge infrastructure. “Exhibition World Bahrain has become a cornerstone for attracting international events, and this year’s turnout demonstrates its impact,” he said.
Enhanced Visitor Engagement
This year’s Jewellery Arabia also introduced a revamped app designed to improve the visitor experience. “The app consolidates schedules, updates, and special offers in one place, simplifying the experience for attendees,” Ebrahim explained. Downloads of the app have surged by 80% compared to last year, reflecting its growing popularity.
Bahrain’s Rising Status
The 30% rise in Bahraini jeweller participation, coupled with the event’s international growth, highlights Bahrain’s progress as a centre for commerce, culture, and tourism. Buhiji expressed confidence that this momentum would continue, stating, “Our aim is to attract tourists who will fall in love with Bahrain and keep returning.”
With strong collaboration between public and private sectors, Bahrain is positioning itself as a hub for large-scale events, driving economic growth and international recognition.
