MoI’s role in securing public funds praised
Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has expressed his gratitude and appreciation of Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa’s initiative of marking the International Anti-corruption Day, affirming his delight and pride to participate in the Interior Ministry’s celebration.
The Minister of Finance commended the effective role of the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) competent agencies in securing and protecting public funds from tampering or any violation of applicable laws and regulations, including malpractices via electronic instruments that pose a crucial challenge against which the relevant security agencies in countries around the globe do take maximum precautions.
He cited the close association between such role and the duties and responsibilities assumed by other agencies that contribute in the same direction, at the forefront of which is the role of the National Audit Office, the Central Bank of Bahrain, and internal auditing sectors within the ministries and directorates.
These efforts aim at consolidating the principles of safeguarding public funds in the core of the Kingdom’s policy as well as full enforcement of the principles of disclosure, transparency and accountability, he explained.
“The Ministry of Finance does not spare any effort in taking all actions and procedures that contribute in safeguarding public funds and ensure compliance with regulations stipulated in the Unified Financial Directory issued by the Ministry, which is the reference that governs financial accountability in governmental work. It includes lists of unified financial regulations that govern financial transactions, ensures the protection and maintenance of public funds and assets, he added.
