His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa recently visited the desert regions of the Southern Governorate, where he was briefed on the ongoing efforts of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) to preserve Bahrain’s natural environment and wildlife. During the tour, His Majesty was introduced to the rare Baobab tree, a species he had personally ordered to be brought to the Kingdom and planted as part of Bahrain’s environmental preservation initiatives.
The Baobab tree, now successfully cultivated in Bahrain, symbolizes the Kingdom’s commitment to the protection of natural habitats and biodiversity. His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the SCE and other government authorities in maintaining Bahrain’s valuable natural heritage.
In addition to the conservation projects, His Majesty emphasized the importance of the desert regions as potential locations for relaxation and holidays, particularly during the cooler months. He called for further attention and care to be given to these areas, ensuring they remain accessible and appealing for both residents and visitors.
His Majesty’s tour reflects his continued dedication to sustainable environmental practices and his vision of preserving Bahrain’s rich natural landscape for future generations.
