Celebrating Bahraini Women’s Achievements
The Women’s Committee of the Bahrain Tennis Federation hosted a special event to mark Bahraini Women’s Day, an occasion celebrated under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women. The event featured competitive women’s doubles matches with 26 participants of various ages and abilities competing under the theme “Women: A Worthy Partner in Nation Building.”
Highlighting Women’s Vital Role
Jameela Al-Nashaba, Chair of the Women’s Committee, extended congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka, emphasizing the pivotal role of Bahraini women in all sectors. Al-Nashaba praised the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for fostering an environment where women can thrive.
The committee also lauded the Supreme Council for Women’s initiatives in empowering women and enabling them to achieve success across various fields.
Promoting Health and Participation in Sports
Al-Nashaba noted that the event aligns with the committee’s 2024 plan, which includes initiatives encouraging women to adopt healthier lifestyles through sports. The plan aims to create opportunities for women to learn tennis and engage in physical activities in a supportive environment.
Matches and Celebrations
The tournament culminated in an exciting final, with Alia Abdullah and Faten Abdulhamid defeating Iman Abdulhamid and Marzia Tessaro to claim the title. The winners were awarded medals and prizes in a ceremony attended by Bahrain Tennis Federation Board Member Mohammed Salman and Jameela Al-Nashaba.
