Bahrain Hosts J60 International Junior Tennis Tournament

The J60 International Junior Tennis Tournament commenced yesterday at the Bahrain Tennis Federation’s courts at Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town. Scheduled from December 2 to 8, the competition marks the third international junior event hosted by the Bahrain Tennis Federation this season.
Following two consecutive J30 tournaments in November, this J60 event draws a diverse field of young tennis talents. The preliminary qualifying rounds have already set the stage for an exciting week of competition, as players vie for spots in the main draw.
Key Preliminary Round Results
In the opening matches, Turkey’s Hakan Arda Aydin defeated Bahrain’s Nasser Salman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Saudi player Ghannam Al-Ghannam secured a hard-fought victory over Russia’s Kirill Grokhov, 7-6(4), 6-1. Meanwhile, Romania’s Teodor Alexandru triumphed over Bahrain’s Abdulrahman Al-Doseri, 6-4, 6-0.
Other matches saw Saudi Arabia’s Haider Al-Farid edge past Bahrain’s Reza Hassan in a closely contested match, 2-6, 6-2, 10-4, while Bahrain’s Ahmed Murtada lost to Turkey’s Kaya Kankardis, 6-1, 6-4. Egypt’s Yassin Mohamed beat Saudi Arabia’s Hamoud Al-Omair, 6-4, 6-1, and Yemen’s Mohamed Maki defeated Italy’s Vittorio Lavazza, 6-1, 6-3. Tunisian Saad Boukadid also advanced with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Maldives’ Mohamed Rasheed.
Girls’ Qualifiers
In the girls’ preliminary round, Britain’s Maria Nicole overcame Saudi Arabia’s Zeina Boudi with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 performance, while Maldives’ Liyan Mohamed beat Bahrain’s Salma Farajallah, 6-0, 6-2.
Main Draw Action
The main draw began yesterday, with notable performances already emerging. Macedonia’s Amar Huseinovic advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Kazakhstan’s Ivan Ponomarev, 6-3, 6-4. Turkey’s Kerim Tufekci bested Italy’s Mattia Salvatore, 6-3, 6-2, while Britain’s Alexander Daskalovic dominated his opponent, securing a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
