BD60 million has breathed new energy into Bahrain’s healthcare sector, aiding 3,600 Bahrainis in private hospitals as part of Tamkeen’s drive to employ and advance local talent. The effort aims to strengthen Bahrainisation in private medical institutions while ensuring doctors, nurses, and technicians are well-placed to thrive.
Tamkeen, responding to a question from First Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman, revealed that the funding has been distributed over recent years in partnership with medical organisations.
Bahraini professionals have benefited from tailored support schemes designed to open doors and improve conditions within the sector.
In 2023, Tamkeen introduced a programme to ensure Bahraini healthcare workers in the private sector receive a minimum salary of BD800.
To further improve pay, another scheme raised the average monthly earnings of Bahraini doctors in private hospitals to BD858.
These efforts reflect a concerted push to make healthcare an attractive career path for locals.
