His Excellency Osama Al Alawi, newly appointed Minister of Social Development, addressed Parliament for the first time yesterday.
He disclosed that 51 families received compensation for fire damage in 2023, while a total of 295 families were supported over the past five years, spanning 2019 to 2023.

Citizens can submit their claims at social development centres located across Bahrain’s governorates, with compensation issued based on these applications.
The minister also highlighted the ministry’s role in providing temporary housing for those in urgent need, alongside financial aid for affected families.
“We aim to ensure safety and stability for families whose homes have been damaged by fire,” he said.
Cooperation He further noted the ministry’s ongoing cooperation with other agencies, including the Ministry of Housing, to address broader housing challenges and meet the needs of citizens.
The Minister of Social Development affirmed that these efforts are part of a broader approach to strengthen social support systems in the kingdom, ensuring families facing such difficulties are not left without assistance.
