The Ministry of Youth Affairs, under Her Excellency Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, has revealed allocating BD133,000 to support 38 youth centres distributed across the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Responding to a question raised by MP Mamdooh Al Saleh on the Ministry’s plans to empower young people, the Ministry revealed that 15 youth centres are located in the Northern Governorate, while the Capital Governorate has 10 centres.
The Southern Governorate has nine centres, and Muharraq accommodates four centres.
This funding, the Ministry stressed, is a key component of the National Strategy for Youth Empowerment (2023-2028), designed to cultivate a supportive environment for Bahrain’s youth and unlock their potential.
Investment
The allocation isn’t simply a handout; it’s a strategic investment tied to performance.
The Ministry explained that funding is distributed based on a rigorous evaluation system, measuring each centre’s effectiveness in delivering programmes and adhering to established guidelines.
This performance-based approach ensures accountability and maximises the impact of the investment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the youth centres.
Commitment
Furthermore, the Ministry highlighted its commitment to enhancing the quality of programmes offered by these centres.
This includes a comprehensive staff development programme, “Developing Youth Empowerment Center Staff,” which has already trained 250 administrators and staff members.
This training, conducted in collaboration with both public and private sector partners, aims to equip staff with the skills necessary to deliver engaging and impactful programmes.
Partnerships
The Ministry also emphasised its ongoing efforts to cultivate partnerships with the private sector, believing that collaboration is crucial for providing diverse and high-quality opportunities for young Bahrainis.
Looking ahead, the Ministry underscored its dedication to improving the infrastructure of the youth centres.
This includes ongoing assessments of existing facilities and a commitment to securing new locations for centres in need of upgraded spaces.
Studies
The Ministry also plans to conduct regular, comprehensive studies to identify the evolving needs of Bahraini youth and address any emerging challenges, ensuring the youth centres remain responsive and relevant to the needs of the community.
The ultimate goal, the Ministry reiterated, is to empower young Bahrainis to become active and contributing members of society.
